The special edition of the Caran d’Ache 849 ballpoint pen bears the unmistakable artistic signature of the U.S. artist Keith Haring, a representative of 1980s pop art. He became known in particular for his distinctive, universally understandable style, recognizable through clear lines and flatness—from white chalk drawings in the subway to paintings on public walls. The writing instrument’s hexagonal aluminum barrel is adorned with Haring’s iconic motifs and figures and is available in two versions: with a white barrel with satin finish and clip and button in red metallic lacquer, or a matte-black barrel with clip and button in nickel-plated stainless steel. On the side opposite the clip there is a stamped print of the artist’s signature. The red collector’s metal box is adorned with the partner logos and another iconic motif.
